Exploring themes of the Dionysian and the Absurd my work has become a subversive and life affirming strategy through which I attempt to unpack notions of futility, pointlessness, hopelessness and nuisance, in the hope of coming cyclically full circle and once again find (actively) meaning in the void and through this affirm life.
These prints refer to Memento mori which is a Latin phrase translated as "Remember your mortality", "Remember you must die" or "Remember you will die". It is part of a genre of artworks that vary widely but which all share the same purpose: to remind people of their mortality, an artistic theme dating back to antiquity, this is a contemporary version.
